CRUSHING IN GHANA

Ghana officially the Republic of Ghana, is a ancient country in West Afica. Ghana is rich in gold and because of the reason, it's called Gold Coast.
Ghana is abundant in minerals resources. Main mineral reserves: gold , 2 billion ounces; diamonds, about 100 million karats, ranking fourth in the world; bauxite, 400 million tons; manganese, 49 million tons ,ranking 3rd in the world. Besides, the limestone, iron mineral, quartz sand, and kaolin is rich too.

The main industries include mining, oil refining, steel, textiles, tires, tobacco, and car, truck, and bus assembly. Proactive support services for the industrial sector are carried out by the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Ghana's premier voluntary business association that has an active membership of more than 500 small, medium and large scale manufacturing industries.
The major metallic minerals in Ghana are gold, manganese bauxite and iron ore. Currently gold and bauxite and manganese are being mined in Ghana. However, gold is the main focus of majority of foreign and local exploration Companies in the country. Currently, bauxite and iron ore are attracting exploratory importance. Gold
Despite the amount of past exploration, Ghana is under explored for gold. The occurrence of gold deposits such as Tarkwa, Bibiani, Teberebie and Iduapriem, and the discoveries of new deposits at Ayamfuri, Obotan, Wassa, Damang, Nkawkaw, Kenyase, Ntronang- Abrem area demonstrate the gold potential of Ghana. There are six major gold belts these are Kibi- Winneba, Ashanti Sefwi, Bui, Bole- Nangodi and the Lawra belt.

Limestone
There are four major limestone deposits in Ghana. These are Buipe, Nauli Oterkpolu and Bongo-Da deposits. Minor deposits occur at various parts of the country. Since 1916 when the Buipe limestone was discovered thus leading to subsequent ones, various geological exploratory works have been carried out at different periods leading to the mining of the Oterkpolu deposit as filler for the production of Portland cement.

Dolomite
The main dolomite deposit is located at the Buipe-Baka area in the Northern region with the total surface area of about 150 square kilometers. The dolomite is overlain by limestone and underlain by tillite-like conglomerate. The dolomites are represented by thick layers, compact thinly and crypto-crystalline rock.

Small-scale mining is an essentially artisanal or small industrial form of raw material extraction. In Ghana, small-scale mining constitutes a major source of employment especially for gold and diamonds, and contribute some foreign exchange for Ghana. The Financing Agreement for the Mining Sector Support Programme between the Republic of Ghana and the European Commission was signed in December 2002, within the framework of the Lomé IV Convention and the 8th European Development Fund.
Under the Agreement, the European Commission has granted to the Republic of Ghana the amount of EUR 40 million to support various projects in the Mining Sector, aiming at improving its performance.
